The World Intellectual Property Organization announced and have made available an enhanced version of their "Patent Scope" service. The new edition gives users the ability to search certain national and regional databases. As of now this does not include the ability to search many of the larger jurisdictions such as the European Patent Office or its member nations nor does it give access to US patents. Hopefully this is the first step in creating a one stop search facility for patent worldwide.
